To make it to the college level, you must ensure that college softball coaches know who you are and how you can help their program.  If you are a blue-chip softball player, recruitment will most likely happen automatically. However, if you are not a blue-chip player, you need to take certain steps to give yourself a shot at playing in college.

Here are five critical steps you will want to take when it comes to college softball recruiting:

1- Start contacting coaches early (your sophomore season)
2- Decide what geographic location of colleges you are interested in playing for
3- Develop your athletic resume
4- Play AAU or USSSA Softball and get some exposure
5- Market and Promote yourself the right way to college coaches

All of these steps should be taken and can help you with your goal of reaching the college level. However, the most important of these steps is most likely step number five.  Why?  A fact often overlooked by high school softball players is that coaches from all across the country need talented players.  Therefore, marketing and promoting your skills and talents to college coaches is not only good for you, it's a great deal for college coaches.
