1.  Make sure it’s fun. Kids and fun go together hand in hand. However, most kids dislike science because they think it’s boring. This is why you need to pick a fun experiment. Your child won’t even realize they’re doing science if they’re having fun in the process.

2. Pick an easy one. Most websites group their kits according to age and/or class level. The experiments for young kids are often very easy. This is good because the child will be able to do most of it on their own. Imagine how proud they’ll be to realize they’re actually doing an experiment on their own. Plus, an easy experiment won’t leave them frustrated or angry with the process. You’ll also benefit from not having to buy any expensive supplies or perform any potentially dangerous tasks.

3. Go for interesting. Kids get bored quick. Try to find the most interesting project you can within the appropriate age range. If the experiment is interesting, your child will want to see the project through to completion. If it’s boring the child’s mind will wander, and they won’t get the benefit of learning the lesson.

4. Get one that applies to their class. Your child can perform a science experiment at any time. It doesn’t have to be for a class. However, it would help if the experiment went along with something they’ve learned in class. This will help them grasp the idea better than just reading about it in a book or from a lecture.

Science kits can help a child develop a love of science. If the experiments are fun, interesting, and easy then the child will look forward to studying science. Take it upon yourself to bring some of the classroom home. It will pay off for your child in the long run.
