The way Mexican artisans solve this issue is by applying a “patina” to the surface, a process that is done under heat. This is not a common varnish as some people many times think but a “chemical process” that protects the sink´s surface from the elements and at the same time gives the copper sinks their characteristic color. In other words they don´t paint the sink but they make the sink that color.
How to take care of a copper sink? It´s simpler than you think, just clean it with regular soap and a soft sponge or clothe. The only thing you should be careful about using is for example a rough fiber that could scratch the surface or some corrosive as chlorine or vinegar. Stay away from these and your sink will be totally safe.
There are many models of copper sinks available, from ovals and round ones to squares and conical shapes. Some people prefer the sinks simple and without figures but you can find them with fish, grapes, stars, etc. It´s all matter of your taste and how nice and charming you want the look for your bathroom.
