Affiliate Marketers: Why Is Clickbank Not Paying You?

Submitted By Our Expert Affiliate Programs Author, Henry Chan on 2009-02-15

More and more newbies are coming to the internet to try and make a few bucks online or make money at home, expecting to be living the true SOHO lifestyle.

But even more newbies quit everyday after trying a few months without making a cent although they all say that it's so easy to make 6 figures just selling ebooks and downloadable products. All they need do is become an affiliate marketers by joining affiliate programs and start promoting those products that pay high and yummy commission striaght into their Paypal account.

Isn't internet marketing supposed to be so easy "even a high school dropout can do it?" They all say it on their sales copies, don't they?

Most will start signing up to Clickbank because it's one of the good old authority affiliate sites with tons of hot instantly downloadable products to promote. And Clickbank is so easy to sign up with too unlike so many CPA programs that require internet marketers to talk to the programs' affiliate managers to make sure they can get in alright, let alone the need to negotiate various "terms and conditions" after they get accepted.

But if it's so easy, how come so many internet marketing newbies fail to make money through Clickbank's various affiliate programs?

How come so many of them fail to get paid even they have succeeded in making a few sales here and a few sales there?

How come Clickbank is holding their "hard-earned" money and even charge the internet marketing newbies a dollar a day after a certain period of time while keeping their "long awaited" money too?

To comply with the US law, ClickBank needs to withhold payment of any account balance til the criteria below is satisfied:

1. sales to be made with 5 or more different credit card numbers
2. sales to be made with 2 different payment methods - either Visa, MasterCard, or PayPal.
Note: PayPal purchases are not counted toward the minimum 5 different credit card numbers.

The message is clear, straight and simple: an affiliate needs to have made 5 sales before getting paid.

Ah, I see now...feeling frustrated, eh?

Think this is bad enough?

Nah, the worse is yet to come...

You would jump up and down when you get to hear about how Clickbank treat those so-called "dormant" account.

What are "dormant accounts?"

Those accounts that have a positive balance but have seen no earnings for a certain period of time are considered to be dormant.

Now here is the killer.

Dormant accounts will be subject to a charge of $1 per pay period after 90 days of no activity, $5 per pay period after 180 days of such inactivity, and $15 per pay period after 365 days of inactivity.

Is it dreadful or what?

Is it easy to understand why newbie internet marketers find it so hard to make money promoting Clickbank's affiliate products then? Even experienced affiliate marketers will have the same headache at times.

How can they make sure they can have sales occurring regularly then? What can they do to have sales everyday so that they can keep their hard-earned money?

The answer to this dilemma can be found by increasing the frequency of sales among various ClickBank products. A good way is to find those less expensive products that have a high conversion rate and promote them extensively such that the numbers of sales can very easily happen from buyers from all over the world, which can satisfy all of the above-mentioned restrictions imposed by Clickbank.

Although affiliate marketing isn't as easy as it's thought to be, as long as the affiliate marketers are doing the right thing at the right time and playing along with the rules and regulations, "6-figure" income shouldn't be that hard to come by after all.
